Mass Academy Students Recognized as Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program
Twenty-three students from the Mass Academy of Math and Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) have been recognized as “National Merit Commended Students” in the 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Program. A letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), which conducts the program, will be presented to these scholastically talented students
The students are Anshu Adiga (Shrewsbury), Lilian Amer (Holden), Rishit Avadhuta (Shrewsbury), Jasmin Bella (West Boylston), Andrew Brown (Mendon), Ila Chakravarthy (Boylson), Medhansh Choudhury (North Andover), Vyshnavi Donthabhaktuni (Shrewsbury), Jessica Froment (Franklin), Hasini Gujjari (Shrewsbury), Harshil Hari (Hopkinton), Sophie He (Southborough), Andrew Kalashnikov (Needham), Saketh Madhusudhan (Shrewsbury), Charlotte Martin (Worcester), Lydia Metcalf (Charlton), Niranjan Nair (West Boylston), Mary O’Brien (Auburn), Aansh Patel (South Grafton), Sharvi Pujari (Westborough), Ishana Saroha (Shrewsbury), Anthea Sun (Northborough), and Adam Yanco (Princeton).
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2026 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
