Michael Barney
Michael Barney has been the Director of Mass Academy since July of 2011. He has a B.A. In Biology from Saint Michael’s College, an M.S. in Counseling and a C.A.G.S. in Educational Leadership and Management from Fitchburg State University. Before coming to Mass Academy, Mr. Barney was Principal of Lunenburg High School for 11 years. He was President of the Midland Wachusett Secondary School Administrators Association for many years, and is a leader in secondary school innovation. He is certified as a trainer in the “Breaking Ranks” model of High School Reform and has presented seminars at the MSSAA Summer Institute on innovative scheduling models and strategies on high school reform.
