Mathematical Modeling
Presented by Mr. Jim Barys
Jim Barys, a nationally known presenter (NCTM National, T3 International, Key Curriculum Press Summer Institutes), offers workshops on the use of technology in the mathematics classroom. These workshops, ranging from introductory to course-specific and utilizing TI calculators (TI-83,TI-89, Voyage 200) and computer software (eg. Geometer’s Sketchpad, Mathematica), can be custom-fit to the professional development needs of the institution or organization. In addition, Jim holds curriculum development workshops that demonstrate the "Mathematics Modeling" approach to mathematics as well as how to integrate functions into all school math subjects.
Jim is currently the Master Teacher of Mathematics at the Massachusetts Academy of Mathematics and Science at WPI. He has been teaching mathematics since 1970.
